*  There is massive confusion here, as Henry is supposed to have died before 1607, when William describes him as a deceased brother. The likeliest solution at this time is that there were two Henrys at about the same period. Ours married Elizabeth Somers, had six children, and died before 1607. The other married Elizabeth Hunt, and Joyce, and lived to 1651. To which the birth date applies is not clear.
** On the other hand William's date of will and probate makes it more likely that he was a generation older. See endnote. I am not prepared to resolve such difficulties as first I must gather the information as best I can. This means that the material I lay before you is often contradictory, and it will be your burden to resolve the contradictions. My apologies, but until this work is finished, I am in a less favourable position than you are now.

*Since Abraham Smith's probate records identify Hannah (Smith) Flewelling as the daughter of his brother, William Smith, and since, to date, only one flewelling is a candidate for her husband (the Thomas Flewelling in the 1698 census of Hempstead with a wife, Hannah); it is presumed that the unknown Flewelling is Thomas Flewelling, son of Thomas and Hannah (Ashman) Flewelling.

ABRAHAM FLEWELLING b. 1703, m. Hempstead, Long Island 21SEP1727 HANNAH TATHAM (spelling varies, possibly a member of the 'Totten' family in Hempstead in 1698?); buys land in Westchester Co. in 1728, in Flushing, NY in 1734, later in Rye, Westchester Co., NY, in Gloucester Twp., New Jersey by 1756. Probably still living in 1786 when Quaker Records of the Woodbury Meeting in Gloucester Twp. mention the marriage of his daughter.
JANE FLEWELLING b. 1705, m. JONATHAN BRUNDAGE (d. between 1776-1787), son of John and Johanna (Brock) Brundage of Wethersfield, CT and Rye, Westchester Co., NY.[590]

(A posting at Brundage GenForum # 368, 15FEB2000 by Reneé DeMarco tells that a son of David and Hannah was James Brundage, whose son was Alpheus Brundage, whose son was David Brundage (involved in the American Civil War), whose daughter was Eva (Brundage) Ackerely, Reneé's great great grandmother.
ROBERT FLEWELLING b. 1712, d. North Castle, Westchester Co., NY 1768[592], will made 5JUN1768 probated 15JUL1768[593], m. MAPLET (said by Perry to be a daughter of Francis Jeacockes of Poughkeepsie, NY[594], and therefore a cousin of Robert's, possibly a third cousin.) said to have been b. Poughkeepsie, NY  ca. 1715, d. Queens Co., New Brunswick ca. 1785.[595] The latter date is probably an assumption that she accompanied her son, Joseph Flewelling, to New Brunswick, but is very suspect. The same source suggests that they were m. ca. 1732, but they appear to have had children as early as 1730.
*Dates marked with a dagger (†) are from the fragment in Appendix 7, and very suspect.
